    Tea and Music in the Garden - Friday, May 16, 2008   4 - 7 pm   Free Admission (donations appreciated)
    Once again, the Gardens team up with the Edinboro Highland Games & Scottish Festival to offer a free musical event. Musical act Maidens IV. Visitors can also sample traditional Scottish treats (while supplies last

    Open Garden Day - Saturday, May 30, 2008   11 am - 5 pm   Free Admission (donations appreciated)
    An open house featuring Swap and Shop: Free to the General Public. Enjoy the beauty of the Gardens Azalea and Rhododendron bloom while you shop for plants for your garden. Local Nurseries and Garden Clubs will be on hand selling perennials and veggie starts:

    • Green Twig

    • Scotland Yards

    • Windover Farms

    • Honeycuts Nursery

    • B&R Greenhouse – heirloom veggie starts

    • Waterford Garden Club

    • Town and Country Garden Club

    We will also have A.M. Leonard brand soil knives with cases & shear pruners with cases for sale.
    Bring an extra potted perennial from your own garden to "swap" with others if you wish. Sale lasts until plants are gone. Plant swap contingent on number of participants.

    Tea Time Talks: Educational Programs 

    2nd and 4th Sundays     $5.00 Nonmember, $3.00 - Members.  Registration required.  Class sizes are limited. Tea/coffee and scones provided.

    Speaker: Dr. Mary Joy Haywood of the Botanical Society of Western PA and co-author of the Wildflowers of Pennsylvania guide book (available in our Gift Shop).

     
    June 22nd - Summer Solstice Celebration     2:00- 5:00 pm
    Featuring labyrinth walks (2-4:00 pm), Make-and-Take Container Gardening with Jean Chapman of Scotland Yard Nursery (3:30-5:00). Plants provided; please bring your own pot up to 18". Refreshments by Nicks Place (2:30-4:30).

    A Little Night Music: Summer Music Series

    Held 2nd and 4th Fridays, 7:00- 9:00 pm. Regular admission applies. Refreshments provided by Eclectic Etceteras Coffee House. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket and enjoy!

    July 13th - Designing a Moon Garden    3:00- 4:30 pm
     
    Learn about the new entry gardens featuring various white flowers and other moonlight-reflective plants designed by Penn State Master Gardeners Linda Stull & Margaret Corbin.

     
    July 27th - The Butterfly Habitat Garden     2:00- 5:00 pm
    View the new Butterfly Garden at Goodell Gardens and learn how to design your own with Master Gardeners (3:30-5:00). There will also be a Butterfly educational activity tent provided by Crawford Co. Master Gardeners (2:00-5:00). Adults and Kids welcome.

    Aug. 10th - From the Ground Up: Starting Trees from Seed    3:00- 4:30 pm.
     
    Learn how to start growing trees from seeds during this talk given by Gardens' Board President, Randy Walker.

     
    Aug. 24th - 5th Anniversary Appreciation Day     11:00am - 5:00 pm. FREE ADMISSION. NO SIZE LIMIT. Refreshments served from noon to 2 pm. Tamarack Animal Rehabilitation Center- Birds of Prey Display (3:00-4:00). Influential Female Landscapers talk by Penn State Master Gardener Chris Troutman (2:00 PM).

    Sept.14th - Fabulous Franklinia    3:00- 4:30 pm
    Learn about the unique Franklinia alatamaha with Goodell Gardens’ Program Coordinator, Heather Zimmerman.

    Sept. 21st - Homegrown Harvest Festival   12:00- 5:00 PM  FREE ADMISSION (donations appreciated) Celebrate the Gardens Heritage at this annual event. Kids activities, music, food and more.  to the general public. More info TBA.

     

     

    PAST EVENTS


    2nd Annual Homegrown Harvest Festival - October 6, 2007   noon - 5 PM 

    Over 200 people came to help us celebrate the farming heritage of the Goodell Homestead at this fun-for-the-whole-family event that featured:

    •  Farmer's Market with honey and maple products (including maple cotton candy), Herbs, mums, pumpkins, squash and perennials.
    •  Traditional crafts
    •  Antique Quilt and Farm Equipment displays
    •  Kid's Activities (mini pumpkin decorating and games)
    •  Live Music and Hay rides
    •  Buffalo burgers and Chili from Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm

               We are already planning for 2008's Harvest Festival!


    Tea and Music in the Garden - Friday, May 18, 2007   4 - 7 PM   Free Admission
    Once again, the Gardens teamed up with the Edinboro Highland Games & Scottish Festival to offer a free musical event. This event saw the return of Celtic music group Fieldstone. Visitors also sampled traditional Scottish treats like Cock-a-Leekie soup and shortbread cookies.
